Do I have to be CSA registered?
Yes you do. Canoeing South Africa does many things for paddlers but it is what they do for race organisers that is most important. A CSA event falls under the CSA insurance policy which protects race organisers in the case of an issue. A race organiser would be reckless to stage an event without comprehensive insurance in place. Without the CSA insurance support major events would not exist. So this is one of those rare occasions where is more about the organiser than the paddler. The new CSA year start 1 April so you will have to register for 2018/19 to be eligible. It is not a lot of money and gives you access to the river season and other great surfski races like Pete Marlin and the Cape Point Challenge.
